Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) revealed the list of players it has kept for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday. The 2016 champions seem to have decided to build their team from scratch and invest in young talent. SRH’s most notable decision was the release of their long-term captain Kane Williamson.
The prolific Kiwis were released after their eighth-place finish in IPL 2022. Williamson had a disappointing season with the bat scoring just 216 runs in 13 innings. SRH released another big player when they dropped T20 specialist Nicholas Pooran.

The Orange Army left its faith in Rahul Tripathi, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma and Imran Malik. These four players were among the few SRH positives in the lackluster IPL 2022 campaign.
Imran Malik, in particular, impressed audiences and critics alike with his raw pace. By launching up to 12 players, SRH will enter the upcoming mini auction with a massive purse of Rs 42.25 crore.
Fans should expect plenty of frantic action at SRH’s table at the auction, which will be held on December 23 in Kochi. Sunrisers management may be tempted to get ahead of players like Mayank Agarwal, Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Moreover, it will be interesting to see who will lead the Orange Army next season.

Speculation is rife that the SRH may appoint Bhuvneshwar Kumar as captain if it does not find a suitable candidate in the auction. The veteran footballer looked pretty flat in that match and couldn’t bother the England players. However, the 32-year-old is a solid bowler in Indian conditions.
