Chennaiyin FC Edge overtook Jamshedpur FC to record their first home win of the season

Chennaiyin recorded their first home win of the season in front of nearly 10,000 fans who had gathered at the Marina Arena to watch the city team defeat Jamshedpur 3-1.

CFC attempted a counter shot through Prasanth as he collected the ball near the halfway line and ran it to the edge of the box to play the ball in. Because the opportunity did not materialize.

CFC got a free kick near the half-line as JFC’s Jay-Emmanuel Thomas brought down Sliksovic. A well-trained floor routine from the set found its way to Vallow’s feet on the edge of the area who fired a shot with real venom. JFC was lucky to get away unscathed as the ball sailed just over the post,

A 14th-minute attack from the visitors worried the home crowd but the defense held their ground to thwart the move and ensure they did not change the score early on, at least not in their favour.

Unfortunately for the visitors, Wellington Priory’s evening was interrupted early as he was removed from the field to be replaced by Seiminlen Doungel.

Jockson Das ventured down the right and pulled one into the middle of the box, but there was no one on his end to connect.

Sliskovic dropped deep to get away from his marker near the halfway line and tried to play Prasanth across on goal where he almost noticed the gap between two defenders, but couldn’t press the ball as well as he would have liked.

Sliskovic was launched from the right and did a good job of passing the ball towards a flowing blue shirt with perfect weight on the ball, but that counted for nothing as CFC couldn’t find the edge to put the ball into the back of the net. .

Chennaiyin took the lead in the 27th minute as Julois Docker won the ball in midfield before Das fired in from the right. The young striker’s shot was saved by JFC goalkeeper Rehenesh Thumbirumbu but the deflection was right at Sliskovic as the Croatian nodded from close range to raise the noise level at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Ajith Kumar received a yellow card for fouling Boris Singh in the 36th minute of the game on the left, and the resulting free kick had the home support worried because Vava’s save sent the ball wide of the post.

Fava was shown yellow for a tough challenge on Farrukh Chowdhury outside the penalty area at the 45-minute mark as the fourth official signaled two minutes to be added.

The first half drew to a close with the home team narrowly entering the tunnel after the first half.

The second period started in a similar fashion with CFC trying to push the issue back with some focused play in the middle of the park. There was one first half change for Jamshedpur as Aidy Boothroyd decided to bring on Harrison Sawyer in place of Muhammed Uvais.

CFC could have doubled their advantage in the 55th minute as Rehenesh stopped Prasanth’s shot from one stand after Prasanth sold a dummy to get past the defender.

With sixty-four minutes on the clock, Bardarick decides to bring in reinforcements in the form of Jobby Justin and

Edwin Vanspaul to replace Sajal and Jockson Das while Ritwik Das to replace Thomas for the Red Miners.

The move almost paid off as Edwin’s first touch of the game was a repetitive effort that went down just off the post.

Brdaric was on the move when he asked the home crowd to turn up the volume as CFC went in pursuit for a moment.

Sliskovic took the ball back to play with Prasanth running down the line, who kicked it back into the middle just behind Dokker. After some pinballing in the penalty area, the ball fell gently to the large Croatian who curled in from outside the box inches from the far post.

Ishan Pandita’s left footed effort flew miles wide as CFC held back Jamshedpur’s lead. But the Indian striker made amends minutes later as he leveled the Red Miners in the 76th minute.

Abdelnaser El Khayat and Vinci Barreto were sent on to replace Sliskovic and Prasanth, and the change paid dividends as CFC immediately took the lead thanks to Barreto’s first-time shot that found the net.

Al Khayat put the game to bed with his brilliant goal, which sold a dummy into the penalty area to turn the defender inside out before firing the ball into the net in the 86th minute.

Al Khayat rose to the crowd as he was caressing the JFC defense down the wing before the referee blew his whistle to end the match.
