The first edition of the International T20 League is sure to raise the roof at Dubai International Stadium (Dubai, UAE) with the blockbuster opener between Dubai Capitals at GMR and the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders group as the league kicks off on Friday 13th January (2023) .
The much-anticipated schedule sees the competition run from January 13th through to the finale on February 12th. Zayed in Abu Dhabi cricket The first match at the stadium takes place on Saturday January 14th, and is a gritty showdown between Reliance Group’s MI Emirates team and Capri Global’s Sharjah Warriors. The same two teams will take part in the opening match at the famous Sharjah Cricket Stadium on January 17.
Speaking about the ILT20 schedule, Mobashir Usmani, General Secretary of Emirates Cricket Board said: “This is a very exciting time for the league and collectively we are delighted to announce the 2023 ILT20 playing schedule. It is very exciting to open accounts for stars like Dasun Shanaka from Dubai Capital and Andre Russell from Abu Dhabi Knight Rider We can’t wait for the teams to arrive (in early January) and take the fight to the lawn and deliver world class entertainment to cricket fans here, in the UAE, and across the world.” “It is very important for us to launch Season 1 in emphatic style, and the league management are very excited to be partnering with world-renowned artists in Badshah and Jason Derulo, both of whom will no doubt energize the teams and fans for the opening game. We are confident that ILT20 will be a great success” .
With ten matches scheduled in Abu Dhabi, sixteen in Dubai and eight in Sharjah, the competition will ignite the UAE cricket scene with stars like Shimron Hetmer, Moeen Ali, Kieron Pollard, and Wwanendo Hasaranga, among others. The UAE elite play a total of 34 matches, boasting two double-headers over five days into the weekend in which the six teams will play each other twice before the qualifiers, culminating in the thrilling final in Dubai on February 12 (2023).
