Female athletes win big at the Northeastern Olympics

In the second edition of the Northeast Olympic Games held in Meghalaya this month, athletes Glorivi Korba, Reinales Ingte and Diva Tang took home the accolades by showing tremendous athletic potential and winning seven medals.

Glorify Kurbah, Rinalis Ingti and Diva Tang all received training and comprehensive support from Dream sports Foundation (DSF), under its long-running Athlete Development Program.

On Meghalaya’s partnership with Dubai Shopping Festival to support emerging talent and the Foundation’s work to enhance the sports ecosystem in the region, said Dr. Vijay Kumar D, Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. From Meghalaya, he said, “We would like to thank the Dream Sports Foundation for their partnership to enable sports developments in the region. The team worked hard to train and support these athletes which enabled them to bring home these medals. Thanks to their efforts, Glorify Kurbah, Rinalis Ingti, and Diva Tang were victorious.

“We hope that partnerships like the one with the Dream Sports Foundation will grow over the coming years, both in Meghalaya and other northeastern states, and that our athletes will get the best opportunity to shine and represent states and country on national and international platforms.”

Congratulating the athletes on the achievement and commenting on the partnership, a spokesperson for the Dream Sports Foundation said, “We congratulate all the athletes on their fantastic performance in the North East Olympics. The momentum and impact that DSF has been able to create for the athletes through our partnership with the state government is testament to how Proper training, nutrition, accommodation and comprehensive support for young sporting talents can enhance India’s status as a sports nation.”

The 2022 Northeast Olympics has proven to be an important stage for more than 3,000 young athletes across the eight states to compete and showcase their skills. The aim of organizing the games is to encourage greater youth participation in sports activities to discover sports talents for competitions at the national and international level at an early stage.

DSF-supported athletes will now look to use these achievements as a catalyst and confidence booster, ahead of highly anticipated Khelo. India The Youth Games are scheduled to take place from 31 January 2023 in Madhya Pradesh.
