Hyderabad FC claimed their fourth consecutive 1-0 victory this season as they edged out Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Premier League (ISL) at JRD Tata. sports Complex in Jamshedpur. Mohamed Yasir scored again for the defending champions in the second half to end their winless streak against the Red Miners.
The hosts made four changes to the team that lost to FC Goa in the last match. Coach Eddie Boothroyd replaced the injured Eli Sabella with Prateek Choudhury in defence. In midfield, Wellington Priory dropped to the bench, and his place was taken by Laldinboya Bachuao. Guy Thomas and Harry Sawyer started as Farrukh Chaudhry and Ritwik Das started from the bench.
The visitors made one change which saw Bartholomew Ogbeche start with Borja Herrera returning to the bench.
Despite being scoreless, the first half was a good one for Jamshedpur. None of the Hyderabad FC players have ever auditioned for Rehenesh TP. On the other hand, Laxmikant Kathimani barely deflected Daniel Chukwu’s header wide before succumbing to the injury after a collision with Harry Sawyer. Before the visitors had to make a substitution, Jamshedpur had to replace Laldinboya Bachuao in the 25th minute. Farooq Chowdhury jumped in to replace the injured midfielder.
Towards the end of the first half, Sawyer entered the penalty area and faced the goal from an acute angle. The striker chose to shoot rather than pass and saw his effort fly high. The format of the game changed early in the second half as first blood was drawn from Hyderabad FC. Halicharan Narzary’s low cross aimed at Ogbeche was intercepted by Peter Hartley. However, the ball eventually fell to an unmarked Yasser, who fired the ball at the near post in the 48th minute.
Heading into the final quarter, the hosts finally tested replacement goalkeeper Anuj Kumar. Boris Singh found Sawyer with a low cross just inside the penalty area. Sawyer had his back on goal as he dropped back towards Hartley, whose shot was low and hard, but was unable to beat Anuj.
Seven minutes into regulation time, Odi Oneindia headed the ball to Anuj. Under pressure from Ishan Pandita, Anuj fumbled and ended up catching the ball outside the box. The goalkeeper only saw a yellow card for the attack and Jamshedpur FC failed to get anything from the resulting free kick.
Another win for Hyderabad FC saw them lead by seven points with 13 points. Their next home challenge will come on November 19, Saturday, when they host the Kerala Blasters. Jamshedpur FC maintains its ninth position after its third loss of the season. They play Chennaiyin FC at Marina Arena on November 19, Saturday.
