The emergence of Suryakumar Yadav was one of the biggest talking points in world cricket last year, as this defected batsman impressed everyone with his 360-degree shots. The middle-class hitter had a chat with the veteran India Rotor Ravichandran Ashwin before the semi-final against England. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry published the video of the conversation on its website.
Suryakumar spoke about his batting technique with Ashwin and said he only sees gaps when he enters the pitch to hit.
“I’ve been enjoying batting now, doing all these things, what I’ve been doing in training sessions and what I’ve been doing for the past couple of years. Very happy with that. I only see the gaps, when I go bat. And I’ve been just having fun. When I go indoors, in a different area. Absolutely absolutely,” Surya told Ashwin on BCCI.TV.

Ashwin had a query when he asked the Indian hitter if he had a fear of going out or if he was playing insistently.
Surya replied, “I’ve succeeded many times more than failed while playing this short game. So the confidence is really high playing those hits. And I was just out. And it just exploded. That’s it. I mean, I’m just trying to turn on the coordination. It’s all about intent. You get into the racket and like I said before, I just try to run every ball. And if there’s a chance, why not? Even if it’s the first ball, just catch it.”

He also asked Ashwin Suryakumar about playing in Australian conditions for the first time the hitter revealed his willingness to bounce back at Wankede Stadium ahead of his World Cup debut.
“Everyone asked me just one question. You’ve never been to Australia. Fast bouncy tracks, big terrain. I’ve never played there. How will your preparations be? But I said the same. When I train at home, I play in Wankhede. The bounce is really good. So The land isn’t that fast but the bounce is the same. They make me good fast tracks there. So I’ve trained a lot there. And I’ve always enjoyed coming here because I see those big big pockets see the gap. I hit the gap and run hard if I’m under pressure or something Like that. I’ve always enjoyed racquet on big ground and jumping which I’ve always enjoyed, so it hasn’t been a problem for me so far and I hope,” Soria said.
