He has two centuries and five centuries under his belt against India. Overall, he scored 846 runs at an average of 98.94 after playing 17 matches against India in ODIs. His maiden century came back against India in October 2017. The 30-year-old bowled an unbeaten knock-out of 103 in that competition to lead the Kiwis to a six-wicket win at Wankidi Stadium in Mumbai.

Latham now wrote the highest scoring by a Kiwi in the form of a 50-over against India in the opening ODI on Friday. Southpaw blasted 19 boundaries and five sixes to score an unbeaten 145 runs in just 104 balls. He sewed a huge partnership of 221 with captain Kane Williamson in Auckland.

“Just one of those days where it all comes down to it. Having a little fun at the end… It was nice to put the ball in the gaps and run hard. I think the build-up was nice… Washington Sundar was taking a little bit of a bit of a pitch. , So you can benefit from it in the end,” said Latham after the victory over India.
Batting first, the visitors scored an impressive total of 306. Shreyas Iyer emerged as India’s leading run-scorer with 80.
