Manchester City celebrated the Premier League title earlier this year in May, but for winger Jack Grealish, it has turned out to be a contentious period.
Grealish, while talking about Manchester City’s tactics, had caught a glimpse of Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron. The comment quickly sparked a storm and Grealish was on the receiving end of some criticism.

Grealish admitted that mocking Almiron was stupid and he regretted making such ridiculous comments.
“That was something I regretted. When I said earlier that I sometimes do stupid things, that was one of them. I’m sorry about that. I swear, I actually cringed at the way he was reacting. He said something about me in the interview the other day, and he wished me the best. I thought.” What a man!” Grealish said during an interview with Watchman.
It all started in May during City’s Premier League title celebration.
City lifted the trophy with a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa on the final day of the season. Their coach, Pep Guardiola, decided to remove winger Riyad Mahrez from the field in the second half.
Speaking of the move, Grealish said, “It is [Mahrez ] I played like Almiron.”
Grealish has now revealed that he recently reached out to former Aston Villa teammate Matt Targett to send Almiron an apology.
Unsurprisingly, Grealish’s comments sparked a huge controversy, but Almiron was totally unfazed by the complete fiasco.
Almiron has scored 10 goals so far, having played 20 matches so far this season for club and country. Later, the Paraguayans called Grealish a “great” player and also revealed that the whole development had nothing to do with his impressive form.
“Jacques is a great player first and foremost, and I wish him all the best as I always do,” Almiron said. Sky Sports.
On the other hand, Grealish is currently playing in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup. He has so far come off the bench in all three matches for England and found the back of the net in the 90th minute in England’s 6-2 win against Iran on November 21.
In club football, Grealish left his boyhood club Aston Villa after being paid a £100m move to City in 2021. He has so far scored seven goals for the Premier League winners in all competitions.
