Kieron Pollard announces retirement from the IPL as a player; Mumbai Indians appoint him as batting coach

West Indies veteran Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from playing in the Indian Premier League. Pollard started his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians and decided to say goodbye to the cash rich league as he did not want to face them as opponents. Mumbai Indians appointed Pollard as the batting coach for the next season. The Windies all-rounder has been part of the driving range for the past several years.

Pollard signed in 2010 for Mumbai Indians and has since become one of the greatest players of this generation, winning 5 IPL Awards and 2 Champions Leagues with the franchise.

“It wasn’t the easiest decision to make as I intend to keep playing for a few more years but after discussions with the Mumbai Indians I have a franchise that has fulfilled a lot of relocation needs and if I no longer play for MI then I can’t see myself playing against MI either.” Once In MI always MI. “This is not an emotional farewell to MI but I have agreed to take up the role of batting coach in the IPL as well as play for MI Emirates,” Pollard wrote in his note and posted on Twitter.
