Instead, the cola drink was served in reusable plastic cups. Even French fries and potato wedges are housed in a small plastic container that is reusable and doesn’t have to be thrown away.
The user’s tweet went viral and got more than 381k likes and 23k retweets. according to Report By News In France, a new law in the country will ban single-use cutlery in fast food establishments. A McDonald’s spokesperson said in the report that these reusable packaging will reduce waste generated by the restaurant by up to 40%. “We have tried many solutions, and we think we have found the one that works best with reusable cutlery. But it remains to regulate the ubiquitousness of France. We would prefer to communicate at a national level once it is operational,” he said in the report.
