Xiaomi and Oppo will bring the next two flagship phones Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Find X6 with these chipsets. The first batch of phones should be released before the end of 2022. Surprisingly, Samsung is not on the list here, but we hope the upcoming Galaxy S23 lineup will come with these chipsets.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC: What it does for smartphones

Qualcomm claims that the new chipset will deliver up to 35 percent higher performance and up to 40 percent higher efficiency. This is made possible by the new Kryo chipset on board. The clock speed of the chipset remains the same as in the previous version. Qualcomm is also making the new chipset compatible with UFS 4.0 memory technology. When it comes to graphics performance, the level is 25 percent higher than Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

This chipset will also power the potential for more QHD+ phones with a 144Hz refresh rate screen. In fact, you can upscale the quality to 4K but with a 60Hz refresh rate screen. The new chipset also offers 8K recording at 60fps with HDR.

On the imaging front, phones with this chipset can carry a 200MP main camera, or you can have three 36MP cameras. Expect more phones to deliver the Xiaomi 12S Ultra-like photo performance thanks to a larger on-board sensor.

For connectivity, Qualcomm introduces the Wi-Fi 7 standard, and sees the company upgrade to the new Snapdragon X70 modem. The phones will be able to run two 5G SIM cards simultaneously. Qualcomm also upgrades audio quality with support for 48kHz lossless music streaming and 48ms lower latency for gaming. Unfortunately, we don’t see any upgrades to shipping, and the quality control technology continues at the same speeds and standards.
