The first T20 match between New Zealand and India It had to be canceled due to rain. While it was a dreary day for most fans, one young fan may have had one of the most memorable moments yet. New Zealand star Glenn Phillips gave youngster Rajbir an autograph and shared it with him in a brief but poignant moment.

New Zealand cricket Board shared a video with the caption, “A moment to remember for @anz_nz Coin Toss Kid, Rajbir from Newlands Primary School.”

Even though the match was cancelled, the players had a great day signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans.

At the start of the video, Phillips goes to say “Hi buddy I’m Glenn” and then Rajbir admits that he’s a huge fan. Phillips is the captain of the current Black Caps squad that is about to take on India.

Both teams also played a fun game of inside foot shot as a way to pass the time. Seemed like a great way to get some activity in with a few smiles on the way.

Both countries fielded a relatively younger squad, and chose to give some of their more experienced players a break from international duty. This seems like a great idea considering India and New Zealand are still fresh from the agonies of being knocked out of the T20 World Cup at the semi-final stage.

After abandoning the first T20 match, all eyes will be on the next match on November 20, scheduled to be played at Bay Oval.

Phillips is a young player and has been described as a big hitter. He has played 54 T20 internationals to date and scored a cumulative total of 1295 runs in all innings. During this spell, he scored two hundred seven fifties with a highest score of 108 against the West Indies.

Indian bowlers better keep him in check if they want any real chance of winning this T20 series against New Zealand. This series could also act as a great platform for many of these youngsters to prove themselves on the international stage.

However, Glenn Phillips’ humility and Rajbir’s excitement in the video show just how invested fans are in the game.
