The Odisha government has estimated to spend nearly ₹1,100 crore to organize FIH men’s hockey Globalism Cup in January 2023.

In 2018, only World Cup matches were held at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar. However, this time, the newly constructed Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela will co-host with Bhubaneswar.
According to official sources, out of the total expenditure of Rs. 1,098.40 crore, the country is spending Rs. 1,010 crore in developing the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium and the terminal area in the city of Rourkela.
The highest amount of Rs 875.78 crore is being invested in the construction of the new stadium in Rourkela, which is in the final phase of construction. While Rs 84 crore is being spent on the construction of accommodation buildings, Rs 10.50 crore is allocated for terminal development work at Rourkela and Rs 13 crore for electrical works at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium.
Similarly, the government gave Rs 17.50 crore for hockey India To lay artificial turf at both Rourkela Stadium and Bhubaneswar.
The government will also spend Rs 75 crore on managing venues, accommodation, transportation and media publicity.
Besides, the state will spend Rs 9.15 crore on developing a swimming pool in Rourkela, Rs 5.39 crore for flood light installation in Kalinga Stadium and Rs 8 crore in the West Stand extension of the stadium, as per the estimate given by the state. sports Section, Sections.
In 2018, out of a total expenditure of Rs 66.98 crore, the Government of Odisha deposited Rs 25 crore for offering partner rights fees to Hockey India/FIH (International Hockey Federation). Just Rs 18.89 crore was spent on venue and event management in the previous World Cup. The remaining expenses were incurred on transportation, accommodation, advertising and others.
The state government, which has been sponsoring national hockey teams since 2018, has taken a number of projects to ensure the landmark event is bigger and better than its previous edition.
To make the tournament unforgettable for both the participating teams and ordinary citizens, the state will organize several massive sporting and cultural events across the state.
The World Cup will be held from January 13 to 29 next year in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
