PSLV rockets flying with the Indo-French EOS 6 satellite and 8 nanosatellites

The Indias Polar C54 Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C54) lifted off Saturday morning with the Indo-French Earth Observing Satellite (EOS 6) and eight nanosatellites from the missile port here in Andhra Pradesh.

They include satellites from two emerging Indian companies – Syzygy Space Technologies Pvt Ltd, known as Pixxel (Anand-16.51 kg), Thybolt satellites from Dhruvaspace – 1.45 kg, and Spaceflight USA’s Astrosat (four-digit 17.92 kg) and ISRO’s INS-2B (18.28 kg). ).

If the launch was successful, the PSLV rocket would have launched 349 foreign satellites belonging to 36 countries since 1999 with a PSLV rocket.

The four-stage, 44.4-meter-tall, 321-tonne PSLV rocket slowly rose skyward with a thick orange flame in its tail.

The missile’s speed increased as it climbed as it let out a rolling sound of thunder. The PSLV rocket is powered by solid (first and third stages) and liquid (second and fourth stages) fuels instead.

The rocket that flew Saturday was the PSLV mission’s 56th mission and 24th mission using the PSLV-XL variant containing six six-tonne fuel boosters.

According to ISRO, the Indo-French collaborative EOS-6/Oceansat will provide continuity services for the Oceansat-2 spacecraft with enhanced payload capabilities and application areas.

EOS-6 payloads include the Ocean Color Monitor (OCM-3), Sea Surface Temperature Monitor (SSTM), Ku-Band Scatterometer (SCAT-3) and ARGOS – a French payload.

According to France, ARGOS will enhance the existing fleet of Indo-French weather-observing satellites already in orbit (MEGHA-TROPIQUES and SARAL-ALTIKA), thus enhancing contributions related to the goals of the Paris Agreement.

ISRO said the satellite will ensure continuity of ocean color and wind vector data to maintain operational applications.

It will also improve applications, and some additional datasets such as sea surface temperature and more ranges are accommodated in the optical region for luminescence and in the infrared region for atmospheric corrections.

The satellite will also develop/improve related algorithms and data products to work in well-established application areas and to enhance mission utility.

INS-2B is ISRO’s second nanosatellite for Bhutan with two payloads, the NanoMx and the APRS-Digipeater.

According to ISRO, the NanoMx is a multispectral optical imaging payload developed by the Space Applications Center (SAC). The APRS-Digipeater payload was jointly developed by DITTBhutan and ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Center (URSC).

Pixxel’s Anand Nanosatellite is a technology demonstration tool to demonstrate the capabilities and commercial applications of the Miniature Earth Observation Camera for Earth observation using a small satellite in low Earth orbit. This is a 3-axis stabilized satellite consisting of a satbus, accommodating all subsystems such as telemetry, telecommand, electric power system, position determination and control system (ADCS), on-board computers etc. and a payload unit, ISRO said.

Dhuruvaspace’s Thybolt satellites contain a communications payload to enable rapid technology demonstration and constellation development for many users. It also demonstrates store and forward functions for authorized users in the amateur frequency band.

The Thybolt satellites will be deployed using the Dhruva Space Orbital Deployer to perform mission-specific operations for a minimum of one year.

Astrocast, a 3U spacecraft, is a technology demonstration satellite for the Internet of Things (IoT) as a payload.

The rocket will orbit EOS-6 and eight small satellites in two different sun-synchronous polar orbits (SSPO).

About 17 minutes into the flight, the rocket will eject first, the EOS-6. Then the orbit change will be done using two orbit change engines that are inserted into the rocket’s thrust bay ring. Backpack riders will be separated in Orbit-2.
