Real Kashmir maintains an unbeaten run and triumphs over Churchill Brothers

Real Kashmir continued their unbeaten run in the 2022-23 I-League with a 1-0 win over Churchill Brothers at TRC Stadium in Srinagar on Monday.

A header from substitute Ibrahim Noureddine in the second half proved enough for the hosts as they defeated Churchill Brothers for the first time in the league.

Churchill Brothers kept possession from the whistle, but the first big chance of the game fell to the hosts on the quarter-hour mark, as midfielder Yakubu Wadodu’s shot hit the post by goalkeeper Albino Gomez.

In the 18th minute, Real Kashmir’s Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung hit a powerful shot from 30 yards, but Churchill goalkeeper Albino Gomez made a wonderful save, jumping to his left to clear the ball out of his own net. The Churchill defense was finally breached in the 76th minute when Gomez parried a corner kick to Pauitlong on the edge of the penalty area, who flicked it back into the box for substitute Brahim Noureddine to find the net.

The visitors later had several chances to get back into the game as Tana and Cisse both hit free kicks just outside Real Kashmir’s penalty area, but their efforts were wide. It wasn’t just Churchill Brothers’ day as they finished the match with no shots on goal.

With this result, the hosts remain at the top of the table with 10 points from four matches (three wins and a draw), while the Goan team has only one point from its four matches.
