Aizawl FC and TRAU FC shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw in the I-League match played at the picturesque Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Tuesday.
Goals in each half from Sagulsim Bikash Singh (18th minute) and Ki Lalrenville (48th minute) for TRAU and Aizawl, respectively, meant both teams were back in the net with a point each.

At the GMC Bambolim Athletic Stadium in Goa, Rajasthan United took all three points in the opening match of the season against Churchill Brothers, sealing a 2-1 victory.
Substitute Brito BM (75th minute) in the second half proved to be the decisive goal of the match after Milroy Assisi’s header (29th), which was canceled by Abdallah Sani from Churchill (45 + 1) at the end of the first half.
Rajasthan defender Hardik Bhatt was sent off towards the end of the match for a second bookable offence.
The first match was a match TRAU had dominated in recent years, and it was a different story this time around.
The first half started with Aizawl FC on the front foot, as they played a high pace into the opposition half.
Argentine new recruit Matias Veron was the focal point of most of their attacks. However, the home team was unable to take advantage of its offensive opportunities.
TRAU started to grow in the game after the quarter-hour mark and managed to make progress when they bumped into Aizawl in the second half.
With only two defenders manning Aizawl’s backline, the onrushing Nana Poku had two options in the form of Bikash Singh and Baoringdao Bodo to pass to. He picked the first one who finished from a very tight corner to score for the away side.
Three minutes later, Aizawl got into attack after a restart finding Henry Kisekka Ramdinthara, whose shot at the near post was saved by TRAU goalkeeper Bishorjit Singh.
Jerson Vieira had an impressive first half for TRAU winning nearly every midfield battle, and his fast forward passes helped the Red Snakes build several counter-attacks.
The first half ended with Aizawl making multiple moves around the opposition area but the TRAU defense held.
Aizawl got out of the blocks in the second half and found the equalizer three minutes into the second half when TRAU keeper Bishorjit fouled Lalrinfela’s shot which deflected right in front of him and into the goal.
Veron had a good chance for Aizawl just after the hour mark when he made some space for himself and pulled the trigger from outside the box, but his shot went wide.
However, the Argentine was soon ordered to march, when a poor tackle by Bikash Singh earned him his second booking of the match.
