Jharkhand has been allocated two of the three major tournaments at the national level, including the Interstate Championships in Ranchi from July 26-30, 2023, which is expected to be the qualifying event for next year’s Asian Games.

Jharkhand’s other city, Jamshedpur, will host the National Athletics Open from October 11-14, while the Federation Cup Senior Championship will be held in Bhubaneswar from June 12-15.

The Federation Cup has been held from March to April in the past few years but this time it will be held in June.

AFI President Adele Sumariwala said the federation was particularly pleased that the National Junior Athletics Meeting (NIDJAM) would return to the annual calendar after a three-year gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are excited that Bihar has come forward to support NIDJAM in a big way and will host it in Patna,” he said.

Sumariwala said the domestic calendar has been prepared with a focus on international competitions in 2023.

“We have many events in which our athletes can showcase their progress. I am confident that Indian Athletics will continue to grow in the right direction and on the right track.”
