The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is expected to be launched in February 2023 and will most likely be the first group of Galaxy smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The latest rumors point to the fact that the flagship Galaxy trio may have a special version of Qualcomm’s latest SoC with overclocked CPU and GPU cores. Earlier this year, Samsung and Qualcomm signed a multi-year agreement where it was hinted that Samsung will mostly use Snapdragon SoCs in the Galaxy S23 series, which means S23 phones powered by Exynos will be much lower.

samsung It has a long-standing relationship with Qualcomm, and in the past we’ve seen Galaxy S-series smartphones be the first to ship with flagship Qualcomm SoCs before anyone else, so it’s not surprising to hear that Samsung’s next big launch will have a special version of its SoCs designed Especially for its flagship.

This new information comes Across Prolific Twitter tipster, Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), who tweeted that Samsung will be getting a special edition Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC where the CPU core frequency will be 3.36GHz (versus 3.2GHz) and the Adreno GPU will have a frequency of 719MB. Hz (versus 680MHz). These two are the maximum frequencies that the SoC can increase when needed. Ice Universe doesn’t explicitly mention that this particular version of the SoC will be in the Galaxy S23 series, but given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is Qualcomm’s flagship, it’s clear that the S23 series will be one of the first to get it.

Being able to run at a higher than stock frequency also offers the potential for increased heat buildup, so it will be interesting to see how Samsung deals with this with its cooling system. I wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung decided to use an overclocked SoC only in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as this phone is expected to be heavier and larger than the other two, which means it could have a more efficient cooling solution. This should also give Samsung another differentiator between the Ultra and the other two models.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series has been in the rumor mill for a few weeks now. The lineup is expected to include three models – Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Ultra model is said to carry a quad rear camera module driven by a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor. The main rear camera sensor could be 0.6-micron pixels and f/1.7 aperture.
