Legendary Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent comments about him. The Portuguese captain gave a sensational interview with Piers Morgan in which he blasted Manchester United owners and manager Erik ten Hag for making clear his feelings about what he’s been going through this season. Ronaldo hasn’t been at his best lately with Ten Hag picking other players over him in most matches. The Red Devils managed to do better with Ronaldo on the bench.

Earlier, Ronaldo was excluded from the Manchester squad for the Chelsea match after his outburst of anger against Tottenham Hotspur where he did not start the match and left the stadium before the final whistle.

He faced criticism from some of his former teammates such as Rooney and Gary Neville for his behaviour.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has slammed Rooney over his comments and says he and Neville are not his friends.

“I don’t know why he’s so critical of me,” he said in an interview with Morgan. “Maybe it’s because he’s done his career and I’m still playing at a high level.” “I wouldn’t say I look better than him. And it’s true.”

Ronaldo said of Rooney and other pundits who criticize him: “I really don’t understand people like that, if they want to be on the cover of the news, want new jobs or whatever. It’s easy to criticize but if you don’t know the whole story It’s easy. They’re not my friends.”

But Rooney responded to Ronaldo’s explosive remarks and said that the Portuguese star finds it difficult to deal with the fact that age comes to everyone.

As I said before, he and [Lionel] Messi are two of the best players, probably, to ever play the game. And again, no criticism, what I said was, “Age comes to all of us.” Cristiano obviously feels that and he found it difficult to deal with that, and obviously he did an interview and it became global.”

The former England striker said Manchester United would definitely take action after Ronaldo’s comments about the club and manager.

He added, “It’s strange, some of the comments are strange, but I’m sure Manchester United will deal with it once they watch the full interview and they will take whatever action they need to take.” .
