New Zealand captain Kane Williamson expressed that he was in absolute awe of seeing wicket-keeper Tom Latham dominate India’s inexperienced bowling attack with a career best score of 145 not out, describing the innings as “one of the most special ODI hits he’s ever seen.”

Chasing 307 at Eden Park, New Zealand were in trouble at 88/3 in 19.5 overs. But it was his 25-run attack on Sharadul Thakur in the forty, six and four bounds hit, all but reaching the three-figure mark, that turned the match firmly in New Zealand’s favour.

It’s nice to make a contribution and with Tommy heading the way he’s been, it’s been about integration. “It’s very special to be on the other end and to see him,” Williamson added.

“On these drop pitches you bowl full and straight, and it can be tough. You are always in the game with dimensions. Spin played a big part today. It was a very good wicket. The seamers have done an excellent job,” said Williamson.
