Enjoy authentic North Indian cuisine at Dhaba 1986, Vasant Kunj

Like the people of Delhi, nothing impresses us more than some mouth melting butter chicken, velvety dal makhani and hot paratha! We are always looking for the best place to have these North Indian delicacies within this city. There is stiff competition among restaurants that pride themselves on serving the best North Indian cuisine but only a few can live up to the expectations! We decided to do a taste test of one of these restaurants and let us tell you about our food experience.

We reviewed Dhaba 1986, a restaurant that takes pride in bringing you the Punjabi Dhaba highway experience. The restaurant’s ambiance is a modern spin on the typical Dhaba, with a pop of color giving it a youthful and vibrant feel.

Tikkas and kebab

We started with some delicious North Indian appetizers. We tried Galouti Kebabs, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Murgh Malai Tikka, Highway Chicken Tikka and Amritsari Macchi. The galouti kebab was so tender and melted in our mouths the moment we took a bite! Amritsari machi was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, just the way we like it. The murgh malai tikka was soft, creamy and soft. I had Mutton Seekh Kebab Masalidar. Last but not least, the express chicken tikka was hot and juicy. All of these classic snacks are paired excellently with pudina and onion sauce.

Dal makhani

After the lavish anointing, we didn’t forget the main course! From the menu, we chose the classic Butter Chicken, Dal Dhaba and the staff recommendation Chitta Butter Chicken. As a fan of butter chicken, I was very impressed with its tangy, creamy take on the classic chicken curry! Chitta Butter Chicken took me by a pleasant surprise, imagine a creamy and juicy curry without any of the tomato tang. If you are someone who prefers savory spices, this is the right choice. Dal Dhaba, or what we know as dal makhani, was everything one would expect from this luscious dal. We paired our meal with classic breads like Dhabe Di Roti, Lachcha Paratha and Pudina Paratha.

Butter chicken cheetah

Overall I had a great time reviewing the food at Dhaba 1986. North Indian Restaurant is excellent for you and your family to enjoy North Indian food within the city. My personal favorites from the menu were Galouti Kebabs, Amritsari Macchi and Butter Chicken.
