First All-Pakistan Commissioner’s Gold Cup Hockey Tournament begins

LAHORE (Online) The colorful opening ceremony of the first All-Pakistan Commissioner’s Gold Cup Hockey Tournament played at Multan Hockey Stadium under the supervision of Pakistan Hockey Federation was inaugurated by Chief Guest Commissioner Multan Ashfaq Ahmed. On this occasion, a minute’s silence was observed paying homage to the hockey martyrs of Balochistan. Special guest Commissioner Multan inaugurated the ribbon cutting event. Birds and balloons were also released in the air. The chief guest was introduced to the officials and players. On this occasion, special guest Commissioner Multan Ashfaq Ahmed addressed the participants and said that God willing this event will prove to be a historical event. There is no shortage of talent in Pakistan, Pakistan Hockey will get new talent from the event, our effort is not to let the visitors from all over Pakistan suffer any kind of inconvenience, our administration has made full arrangements in this regard. The teams participating in the tournament have been divided into two pools. Pool A includes teams from Pakistan Wapda, Najab Central, Pakistan Army, Sindh and Balochistan. The first match of the first day was played between Punjab Central and Sindh, which Punjab Central won by 4-6. On behalf of Punjab Central, Shehbaz and Siraj scored two goals each while Qayyum and Arsalan scored one goal each. Amir Hamza, Zahid Mahmood performed the duties of umpiring in the said match. Yasir Khursheed and Asad Abbas performed the duties of umpiring in the said match, reserve umpire Saleem Ahmed, while the technical official Shafqat Malik and the duties of judges were performed by Rao Nadeem, Umeer Akram, Muzamal Hussain, Javed Sadiq. The third match of the first day was played between Pakistan Navy and Punjab Police in which Pakistan Navy defeated Punjab Police by six goals to one. On behalf of Pakistan Navy, Yasir scored a hat-trick by scoring three goals, while Mohsin, Hamad and Sultan scored one goal each, while Hamza scored the only goal on behalf of Punjab Police. Yasir Khurshid and Hafiz Atif Malik performed the duties of umpiring in the said match, the reserve umpire was Zahid Hameed, while the technical official Javed and the judges were Shafqat Malik, Muhammad Ali, Naseer Mughal, Usman, Asif Mehmood. The fourth match of the first day was an interesting match between Punjab Rangers and (Royal Orchard) South Punjab which ended in a 0-0 draw. Asad Abbas and Irfan Tahir performed the duties of umpiring in the said match, the reserve umpire was Amir Hamza, while the technical official was Muhammad Ali and the duties of the judges were performed by Muzmal Hussain, Umair, Usman, Mirza Mujahid, Rao Nadeem. On this occasion, the chief guests were Commissioner Multan Ashfaq Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Khawaja Umeer, DO Sports Rana Muhammad Nadeem Anjum, Tournament Director Olympian Qamar Zia, Assistant Tournament Director Kamran Saber, President DHA Multan Mian Muhammad Zafarullah Bhatti, Chief Co-ordinator.
