Japanese imaging giant Fujifilm has launched the Fujifilm X-H2 mirrorless camera, which will join its existing X Series range in India. The new Fujifilm X-H2 is the first APS-C camera to support 8K/30P Apple ProRes internal recording and features a 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor.

Features of the new Fujifilm X-H2 camera

The faster shutter speed of the electronic shutter increased by 2.5 stops from the previous 1/32000 sec to 1/180,000 sec thanks to the use of the new sensor. This allows users to open the aperture wide without blowing the exposure and the need for an ND filter to properly expose.

The Fujifilm X-H2 features In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), which allows the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function to capture 20 frames with the push of a button.

For video, the X-H2 allows users to shoot in 8K 30P resolution in 4:2:2 10-bit color for up to 160 minutes. The camera also samples in 8K to 4K resolution for sharper details.

Using external recorders from the likes of Atomos and Blackmagic Design, users can record 8K videos as ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW at 29.97 fps, dramatically increasing production quality. For less demanding workflows, Fujifilm has added F-Log and F-Log2 as well.

Compared to current models, the new high-precision sensor includes more phase-detection pixels, improving the ability to achieve AF-S focusing on a target with a high-frequency target. Users can quickly and accurately autofocus in scenarios where the AF-S is used frequently, such as when shooting landscape portraits and portraits.

In addition, a newly created improved AF prediction algorithm for the X-H2S is built into the X-H2, enabling consistent focusing even while using AF-C.

During movie recording, the X-H2 now has a focus meter as MF support, allowing for more precise focus tuning. In addition, it can be used in conjunction with peak concentration.
