Ben Stokes’ England broke a number of records on Thursday when they beat host Pakistan in the first Test of the 3-match series in Rawalpindi. The game is called historical as The Three Lions arrived here to play a pilot series after 17 years and left no stone unturned to make it memorable.

After choosing to bat first, England taunted the Pakistani bowling attack with the formula “Bazzball”. The opening pair of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett exploited beautifully Rawalpindi’s dead run, sewing a partnership of 233 runs for the first wicket.

Crawley hit his hundred, his third in Test cricket, off just 86 balls to set the record for the fastest hundred by an English opener in Test cricket. The duo scored 174 points in the opening session, now the most by any team in the game’s longest format.

After lunch, the Crowley and Dockett pair reached another milestone in the game’s longest form. They got 200 points on the board in 31Street over 181 balls, making it the fastest double stand in Test history. Duckett also achieved his maiden Test hundred off just 105 balls.

The hosts managed to dismantle the England opening pair after nearly working hard but to their dismay, this wasn’t the end of their struggles. Wicketkeeper-battery Ollie Pope was next in action to score a hundred from the English camp. It was his third test ton and the first ever on Pakistani soil.

In the final session, Harry Brook launched an attack on Saud Shakil, smashing his left arm for six boundaries in an over. With 24 runs over, England’s No. 3 came close to his first Test hundred which he got minutes before stumps.

Brook hit the triple figures off 80 balls, setting the record for the third-fastest Test century for England, after Gilbert Jessup (76 deliveries) and Jonny Bairstow (77 deliveries). Brook was the fourth England batsman to make a hundred on the first day; A feat not achieved by any pilot country so far.
