“On subcontinent pitches, you often don’t have a bias towards spin and you have to make sure you adapt your tactics. And I think that’s one of the main things as a franchise cricketer. Because you play tournaments in different countries and conditions throughout the year, so you have to keep going. You want to climb into certain areas of your game all the time, or else you’ll soon find out.
“(Abu Dhabi T10) have definitely improved my game with spins over the past few years, and it’s still an area I’m looking to improve on, so I’ll be sure to try and refill as much as I can over the next couple of weeks.”
Hales added that facing the spinners in the conditions in Asia requires a little adjustment and noted that his training periods are in India She helped him achieve his goals so far.
“I’ve played a lot of cricket in the UAE so I know what to expect so hopefully I can get on the ground. We have limited time to really train with the busy schedule but in the past I’ve spent time in training camps in India So I have a rough idea of my game plan. I have my methods and I hope they can do well in this tournament.”
Hales, who said he was waiting to arrive in Abu Dhabi and join his team, also noted that playing all three forms of this sport is very difficult.
“I think it is very difficult to play all three formats at the top level. I think there are only a few cricketers who are probably good enough to excel in all three. Since I gave up Red Bull Cricket in 2018 my T20 game has improved A lot and quickly too. And the way things are going, I think it’s going to see more and more specialists in every format,” he signed.
