Pakistan cricket Chairman of the Board (PCB) Ramez Raja said that the Pakistan cricket team will not travel to India India ICC men’s cricket Globalism Cup in 2023 if the “men in blue” do not visit the neighboring country for next year’s Asian Cup.

The 2023 AFC Asian Cup is scheduled to be held in Pakistan in September next year. However, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry secretary Jai Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), said last month that the Indian team would not travel to Pakistan for the continental tournament and demanded that the event be moved to a neutral venue.

Shah’s comment ruffled some feathers in the then Pakistan and the PCB asked the Asian Cricket Council for an emergency meeting.

In the latest development, the Chairman of the PCB once again reiterated his position on the conflict.

If Pakistan does not participate in the World Cup in India next year, who will watch it? We have a clear position: if the Indian team comes here, we will go to the World Cup. If they don’t come they can play the World Cup without us.”

We will adopt an aggressive approach. Our team shows performance. I have always said that we need to improve the economy of Pakistan cricket, and that can only happen when we perform well. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, we beat India. We beat India in the T20 Asian Cup. And in one year, Pakistan’s cricket team has defeated a billion-dollar economy team twice.”

The 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup, to be hosted by India, will be the 13th edition of the Over-50 World Cup. India will host the quadrennial tournament for the fourth time in its history and it is unlikely that the mega event will be moved outside the country.

Notably, Pakistan and India do not play bilateral cricket and only meet in world championships or multi-team events since 2013 due to simmering political tensions between the two countries.

India’s last trip to Pakistan was for the 2008 Asian Cup, while Pakistan’s last visit to India was for the 2016 T20 World Cup. The two teams last played each other in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne on 23 October.
