Kolkata Knight Riders Sign with Loki Ferguson and Rehmanullah Gurbaz of Gujarat Titans before Auction

Two-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders have started their preparations for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. The Kolkata-based franchisee has signed Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz of the Gujarat Titans ahead of the mini-auction that is expected to take place later this year.

Ferguson returned to KKR after a successful stint with the Titans in their debut season. He played a pivotal role in his title winning campaign at the IPL 2022 as he picked 12 scalps in 13 matches.

Kiwi pacer has so far played 35 matches in the IPL in which he has taken 36 wickets. Last season he threw the fastest delivery of the season.

Meanwhile, Gurbaz was signed as a replacement for Jason Roy by the Gujarat Titans but did not get the chance to debut.

New Zealand speed bowler Lockie Ferguson has been traded from the Gujarat Titans to the Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023. He played 13 matches for the Gujarat Titans and picked 12 wickets involving 4 spaces.

“Kolkata Knight Riders traded too Afghanistan Wikipedia hitter Rehmanullah Gurbaz of Gujarat Titans. He was included in the Gujarat Titans at the 2022 TATA IPL edition as a replacement for England racket Jason Roy but did not play any game last season,” the IPL released a statement.

Earlier, KKR appointed Chandrakant Pandit as their head coach. KKR split from Brendon McCullum after last season as the former New Zealand wicketkeeper took over as England’s Test coach. Pandit led Madhya Pradesh to this year’s Rangi Trophy victory as they beat 41-times Mumbai Rangi Cup champions by six wickets in a summit encounter to claim their first title.

Meanwhile, they have also appointed former Dutch cricketer Ryan Ten Docht as the field coach for the franchise.

42-year-old Tin Duchat, who was part of the KKR title-winning teams in 2012 and 2014, replaced James Foster, who was promoted as assistant coach.
