Binotto chose to replace the German with Carlos Sainz Junior, while also being at the head of the table as Ferrari decided to enter a settlement with Formula One regarding their power unit.

Charles Leclerc’s second podium finish in Austria ended up being the Italian team’s best result in a season in which Ferrari finished sixth, the lowest in forty years for the gold standard of racing.

The 2021 season was supposed to be the watershed year for Binotto, but it turned out to be another campaign in which Ferrari was left chasing the shadows as Red Bull and Mercedes created ultra-competitive cars as the Italian manufacturer was left playing catch-up early on. in season.

With the title race out of reach once again, Ferrari has decided to turn its focus to the 2022 campaign, which has started with big victories.

Ferrari showed speed as Leclerc was the toast of the city after dominating the opening round. Monaco took a huge lead thanks to Ferrari’s 1-2 finish at the curtain raiser in Bahrain, a double podium in Saudi Arabia, and another title for Leclerc in Australia.

There were rumors circulating that Binotto was facing the axe, but Ferrari brushed off any such claims, dismissing them as unfounded.

But, on November 29, 2022, Binotto put an end to his time driving his beloved Ferrari, signing the Italian manufacturer’s resignation from his position as team boss.
