Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan is set to lead the Indian team in the next three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Southpaw was also named the new captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) series in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhawan will replace Mayank Agarwal as Mohali’s franchise captain in the 2023 edition of the IPL.

The Punjab Kings announced the change of captaincy on Twitter and wrote,

“Jabbar will be in Shekhar for the Kings of Punjab! Sher Band, Welcome Skipper, Jat Ji!”

Mayank Agarwal had a mediocre season with the bat and was unable to produce the desired results for the Punjab Kings. Mayank released for auction by Punjab.

Therefore, the chieftains of the kings of Punjab now gave the reigns to Shekhar Dhawan. The experience of India’s recent captaincy duties in the 50’s is sure to help Dhawan. The veteran cricketer captained the India team in the recent ODI series against South Africa. Dhawan’s Young India side secured a 2-1 victory over the Proteas.
